The problem that Dell supposedly has with their switches are that the
backbones on them are not at full capacity (this is why they cost a lot less
than normal switches), you just may want to read the fine printed detailed
specs on them (I don't know them off the top of my head).
Other than that, those switches work well and are very enticingly priced for
what you're getting ... especially the gigabit switches.
But like I said, the big problem is the backbones on them are something like
only a couple gigabit instead of the normal bandwidth - SO, if you are using
every port on the switch to its fullest 100 or 1000 MB connection at full
duplex (which like never happens), you may run into some speed and traffic
problems.
But we also own a couple of these nice switches, and they work just great
... for the low end stuff anyways; beyond that, if your network is quite
busy, I think I'd prefer another brand over Dell.
