Matt,
I don't know about your area, but they just installed DirecPC Two Way at my
house Friday and it just screams!
The problem might be because of the demand. I know they are upgrading
current customers first and we were about the 5th customer in the
Indianapolis and central Indiana area to get it. According to my installer,
they are just getting swamped with requests.
DirecPC one way you can install yourself, but two way needs a certified
installer because you are beaming microwaves into space and our military
does not like it when we screw up their satellites.
I would call DirecPC and see what they have to say.
If you need anything else, please let me know.

I was told by our local Direct-PC supplier that the two-way
service is 'temporarily' off the market. Some sort of problem
with government satellites ( not GWB's fault ).
Are you saying that you have this service without a modem?

Troy,
You might look into Direcpc Two Way (no phone line needed) and VPN. The
hardware for the two way runs about $500 - $600 installed. I don't know
what the monthly cost is for business use, but home runs me $59 for
unlimited usage. Speed is about 512kb up and 256kb down. This should be
fast enough for data collection and one user.

Is anyone using, or is anyone aware of Wireless hardware that could connect
a LAN with a distance of 3.5 miles? We have a small manufacturing area
around 3.5 miles (as the crow flies) from our main plant, and would like to
connect about 5 or 6 PC's to our network for data collection and minimal
Vantage use.
