Microsoft Licensing question for on-prem Kinetic

Hello,

I am looking for some advice on how I should be going about pricing out Kinetic for on-prem migration.

Microsoft licensing is very confusing to me, and would like some direction on how to go about pricing CAL for WIndows Server and SQL.

I will need an Application Server and a SQL server either Server 2019 or Server 2022. How do the CALS work for these servers? Is a cal needed for each user? Example, 25 users =25 CALS for both the Application Server and the SQL Server?

SQL Server 2019 - Would an SQL CAL be needed for users accessessing this server or would it be based on something else?

SQL can be per core or per CAL. There is a breakeven point of course, so it depends on your actual user count. Best bet is to talk to a licensing person at a MS Var/Reseller.

Servers - are you virtual? You need Datacenter server licensing if you have more that 3 or 4 servers.

Lots more questions apply here - so it’s best to inventory what you need to license and then talk to someone about the more economical licensing options.
