We process our purchased parts and subcontracting as you described below.
For manufactured parts, we have an inspection operation on our job
travelers. The inspectors either punch in to record the quantity of parts
that passed as well as any parts they scrapped for destructive testing, or
they place the discrepant parts into the non-conforming system for further
review.
If the non-conforming parts then require a sort or rework operation, an
operation is added immediately previous to the inspection operation, then
the parts pass back through inspection to either be passed or failed again.
