We recently installed and setup our 10.1 environment and did go through the step to deploy our help website and did enter the URL under company config. However when we click on a field for field level help we see, " the field definition you want is not yet linked to the field help window" Is there a step that we missed to enable this?
You did a copy of the URL from the setup and did paste that into Company maintenance ā Epicor Help Url? That should be it. Did you restart your client after that change?
Both would be great. Have you tried help from a client that is running on the server where Epicor & Help is installed? Just trying to eliminate some variables.
One more thing to check. In IIS make sure the application pool for the Help site is actually running. I have seen instances where this is stopped, and while it does not affect Epicor typically, it does make help appear as not working.
I think it might be the application pool you are using. Can you see if you have the same option, as the screen below, to switch the application pool? I would try switching it.
So I am not 100% sure of this but I just created a new help install using a custom account like you did and it does not work for me. I went back to not using the custom account and it worked. hmmm. Further updateā¦ Not sure why it did not work as I switched it between URLS (help wth no account and help with account) and it worked.
You can go to IIS and change the application pool (advanced setup) to use a Built-in account. If help still fails after changing you can use this to switch back to a custom account.

No. As @bw2868bond pointed out some fields have help and some do not. With every release we are adding more field help context, but, there are other ways to get technical information regarding a field such as the Data Dictionary viewer for those fields that display this message.
Yea but it just shows the general āErp 10 just getting startedā screen instead of showing us the actual application help for the screen we opened, in this case, order entry.
