Epicor Search Tactics

Some of the search windows, like Part Search, have a field that says 'where part description contains:' and these hints work great. I do not know if the apply completely to Enterprise Search.

The
following hints from Epicor are for that field to make searching for what you
are looking for easier - and they apply to any field/search window that allows
this type of search.

Words
are NOT case-sensitive

Use
an Asterisk at the END of a partial string as a wildcard

Words
on the same line - is like using AND

Words
on different lines - is like using OR

The
index is based on 'separated' words in the descriptions of what you are
looking for. Separators are characters like : / = () - but NOT - or _ as
words that include these hyphens are considered one word.

Examples:

Entering
Item123 will find ITEM123, item123 or iTem123.

Entering
Ite* will find any WORD in the description that begins with 'ITE'

Entering
*Ite will fail because wildcards cannot be in the beginning.

Entering
'Item 123' on the SAME line will find descriptions with BOTH words 'item' AND
'123' in it.

Entering
'Item' and '123' on the DIFFERENT lines will find descriptions with EITHER
'item' OR '123' in it.

Does anyone have end user documentation on epicor match searches using things like the * and . as wild characters?  I can't recall if there is more to it then that or if those are the only two wild characters
