Hi, has anyone had any experience upgrading SQL Server from 2008 to 2014 and keeping Epicor 905?
I don't want to upgrade to Epicor 10 as it will be an extremely complex and expensive migration, for not business benefit.

So you’re worried about SQL support into 2019 which needs next to no support to work, and you’re not worried about 905 support into 2019 which will be in the same boat…

SQL 2008 end of extended support cycle is approaching (July 2019). It may seem far away at this point, but we also plan to roll out Epicor to a further two sites. As we are resource constrained, we are deciding on a road map for all this.
If we could upgrade from 2008 to 2014, we would still have a number of years ahead without the worry of a migration to 10.

What benefits are you hoping to get from going to SQL 2014 while remaining at 905? That SQL version is not supported by Epicor for use with 905, though it probably would work, but I can’t say that for sure. If you are currently on maintenance with Epicor, I would not advise upgrading your SQL as you might compromise your support.

I obviously don’t know all the background details. But wouldn’t it behoove you to do the migration to 10 before implementing at 2 more sites? Especially if you are resource constrained you are only going to compound your cumulative workload. You will then have two more sites to upgrade reports, customizations, bpms, dashboards, etc at vs implementing at 10. Just curious.
