I setup a pdf printer under linux using samba and ghostscript. How this
works is the samba computer is on the network with a printer shared. This
printer is a shared resources that let's a user print to a network printer
driver and it saves their printout to a file on a shared drive. After the
user prints, they are able to go to the shared drive to pick up their file
that is a pdf of their printout. If you have some junk hardware laying
around it will do nice for this purpose. Check out this resource for more

There is a utility we purchased form caesar development that does this as
well as other things. It is extremely easy to use and has worked great for
us over the past 4 years that we've had it. However, I have been trying to
contact them for several weeks about my 6.0 upgrade and I have not gotten a
response so I'm not sure what the status is. Another options is a free pdf
writer utility that I downloaded. (www.pdffactory.com) when you go to
print, FinePrint pdf factory will be one of the options. When you choose
that it opens the document in pdf and from there you can choose to 'save' or
'send' it. If you choose 'send' it opens a new email msg, and attaches
itself. The only caveat is with the free version, each page of the pdf has
an ad on the bottom.
