E-mailing from Vantage

I setup a pdf printer under linux using samba and ghostscript. How this
works is the samba computer is on the network with a printer shared. This
printer is a shared resources that let's a user print to a network printer
driver and it saves their printout to a file on a shared drive. After the
user prints, they are able to go to the shared drive to pick up their file
that is a pdf of their printout. If you have some junk hardware laying
around it will do nice for this purpose. Check out this resource for more
info:

Cheers!

There is a utility we purchased form caesar development that does this as
well as other things. It is extremely easy to use and has worked great for
us over the past 4 years that we've had it. However, I have been trying to
contact them for several weeks about my 6.0 upgrade and I have not gotten a
response so I'm not sure what the status is. Another options is a free pdf
writer utility that I downloaded. (www.pdffactory.com) when you go to
print, FinePrint pdf factory will be one of the options. When you choose
that it opens the document in pdf and from there you can choose to 'save' or
'send' it. If you choose 'send' it opens a new email msg, and attaches
itself. The only caveat is with the free version, each page of the pdf has
an ad on the bottom.

Can someone tell me what it takes to get to where a company can e-
mail purchase orders and RFQ's from Vantage?

Thank you,

Nancy Metcalf
You can use a program called Fineprint PDFactory. You can print the purchase
order or RFQ to pdf and e-mail straight from the program.

I just did minutes ago. Free version is a pain w/ pop-ups and three
programs to load. Fine Print seems better.

Does any one know how to get the item printed to be named correctly?
"Invoice 12345" for example. Mine get named Seagate ....

In our 602 printpack a dialogue box pops up asking your for a file name (it
defaults to a generic "file.pdf"). After you enter a name then your email

Thanks,

FinePrint also gives you a dialog box, but I was hoping to automate the
naming. Not a big issue.

How might I utilize the PDF options for our PO's if I have a subreport on my
PO form that I don't want to go out with the PDF file to the vendors (it
allows us to print a second version of our PO's to serve as a receiving
copy). Would I have to open each PO and delete pages from the PDF file?

Just create a second PO form identical to the first without the subreport.

We use a utility we purchased from Caesar Development Services. Their
website is http://www.caesardev.com/

The utility is called "Multi-Form Print Add-On". This utility is great in
that has 2 different functions, both of which we use:

1.) It allows you to save the form to a wide range of file formats
(including Pdf and Rtf). it also allows saving, emailing or opening of the
form in this other format directly from within the vantage print preview
window.

2.) It allows you to have multiple forms and provides a drop-down list to
choose the form you want. So, you could have one form printed for internal
records and a second form that gets emailed, and the person sending the form
would just choose the correct one.

We use both of these features extensively and I can't imagine what we'd do
without it at this point.

Also, the president of the company is really great at customer service.

Do newer versions than ours (3.0) accommodate multi-form selections an
easier way than by using Report Style Maintenance (which is one form at a
time)? I know there are add-on programs available to do this, but wasn't
aware of any easy way to do it in Vantage.

Can someone tell me the fastest/easiest way to e-mail quotes from
Vantage. I know I can use Acrobat but I need to know exactly how to
go about doing it.

The full version of acrobat should install a printer driver (acrobat pdf
printer) so that when you print to the acrobat driver you get an
opportunity to give it a file name and location. We also use a little
program called BROADGUN that does the same thing. If you need many
people to print to pdf Broadgun (and other programs) are a cost
effective option.
