Drop Shipping in 5.2

We have been trying to automate as much as we can lately. I think
Vantage will allow me to go only as far as adding the drop ship address
as a Purchasing Comments when a spare part is added to a job, or in the
Comments section on the sales order. Either way, Purchasing does not
get a clear visual clue that an item should be drop shipped.

I guess in this case we are going to have to rely on employees
interfacing with each other, and people actually being held responsible
for their portion of the drop ship process. I can't wait for the
inevitable "but a computer system should be able to do that for you" in
the next meeting. The horror! We have to think and have
responsibilities....

Thanks all!

Paul

We have some issues with drop shipments also. How do you insure you are
notified by the vendor doing the drop shipment? How is the drop
shipment approved? How is the drop shipment request communicated inside
the organization? Drop shipments have been a headache for us and we are
trying to create a process to timely transact the drop shipments.
Thanks for any help.

We have several "Ship To" addresses in some of our customers. When
customer A calls in an order for subcustomer XYZ the order is entered
with that ship to number. Some of our customers have 20 ship to's.

All,

How is everyone handling drop shipping situations? We are doing a fair bit of service work (and we are running the Field Service module), and we often have a need to drop ship parts. Right now we depend on the person taking the service call to call/e-mail Purchasing to advise them when a drop shipping situation occurs. Purchasing in their turn will call/e-mail the vendor to convey the different ship to request. Upper mgmt wants to automate this process and eliminate the need for human communication. Has anyone come up with a snazzy way of doing this?

TIA,

Paul Siebers
