Data Collection (MES) and Documents

on Data Collection there is this documents button which becomes active when you clock onto a job, however we do not know where the documents pull from.

is anyone utilising this part of data collection, we are hoping it will be a way of going paper free in a simple way

We are using this to store production specifications for the part we are producing. We attach the specs to the part rev which automatically pulls them into the JobHead. Looks like you can also see attachments at the assembly, operation, and material level.

so thats how it works!!!

so to make the solution work for me, i just need to work out how to get an order line attachment to copy to the job head when a job is created and we will be able to implement the solution with very little customisation!

Glad to hear this should work for you. It has done a great job getting paper and potentially outdated product specs off the floor here. We are make to stock so can’t help on the order line piece but if you run into issues I’m sure there are others here who can.

We are make to order with lead times where things can change and unfortunately we have fell foul of manufacturing the wrong thing because of our dated job travellers - drawings to jobhead i believe should be standard functionality for Epicor as its a manufacturing based ERP system (or thats how it was sold to us).

I think i need to dive into the world of BPMs but at the moment they baffle me! And i am by no means a simple minded person when it comes to writing code, but also i am no expert either.

Many thanks for pointing out how it works and i am glad ot has helped you, gives me faith i am heading in the right direction!
